‘Zombieland 2’ Director Hints At An Even Better Film That The Original

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”7152″ img_size=”900×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Ruben Fleischer is a busy man these days. With the coming release of his new movie Venom, he has naturally been on the media circuit, promoting his film to any and all who will listen. That doesn’t mean, however, he has totally neglected his upcoming projects. It was while speaking to Comicbook.Com about Venom that the director opened up about his soon to be in production sequel, Zombieland 2.

Fleischer talked about his anticipation of revisiting the post-apocalyptic world along with the original cast members (and some new ones). The re-assembly of the cast wasn’t easy. Since the original Zombieland released in 2009, its cast of Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin have continued to add to their resumes and their availability wasn’t a guarantee. There was also the sticking point of the returning cast holding firm to a necessary element for their participation: the existence of a high-quality script.

Well the reason we’re all doing it again is ’cause a we all love the world of the movie so much,” Fleischer said. “I think it was a real touchstone for all, for me certainly ’cause it was my first movie, but I think for Emma and Jesse it was a really just significant movie in their evolution. And Woody paid me a huge compliment. I was on the phone with him the other day and he said he’s probably made over a hundred movies but the most fond memory he has is making Zombieland.

While evident that the cast had a good time working with the (at that time) first time Director, just having a good time wasn’t going to be enough to bring them back to Fleischer for the sequel.

I think we all have this honest nostalgia for the experience of making it and with that being said none of them would agree to do the movie until the script was good enough. And we’ve been working on it for four years and have made sure that if we’re gonna do it again it’s at least as good if not better than the original and finally I think we have a script that we all feel really confident in go making and yeah, ’cause it’s such a precious thing none of us want to tarnish its place, we only wanna build upon it.

In the meantime, the search is on for some supplemental cast members to expand upon the original four. Zombieland 2 is slated for release on October 11, 2019.

For those fans of the original Zombieland, does the return of the original cast and Director spell success for the sequel or are you more in the let’s wait and see approach? Take some time to give us your Zombieland thoughts…or 2 here at GVNation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
