[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Andy Serkis’ highly anticipated Mowgli film was set to release in theaters this October. However, today it has been reported by Deadline that Andy Serkis will be taking his jungle adventure to Netflix. The major streaming service has bought the rights for the project from Warner Bros. which ultimately means we won’t see Mowgli release in theatres later this year. This acquisition according to Deadline makes it the largest Netflix has ever made for a finished film. Mowgli was originally set to be released on Oct. 19 but this deal has now seen the movie be pushed back into next year. There’s no new release date for the project yet but the report states it should debut on Netflix sometime next year.
Synopsis for Mowgli:
The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli (Rohan Chand) raised by a pack of wolves in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo (Andy Serkis) and a panther named Bagheera (Christian Bale), Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own, except for one; the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch). But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.
