Apple Pulls ‘The Banker’ From AFI Fest

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”31348″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]We recently got the trailer to Apple TV+’s upcoming movie ‘The Baker’. Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Mackie, the film was about two Black men who enlist Nicholas Hoult’s character to be the face of their business, as the times made it difficult for people of color to own banks.

While this movie was supposed to come out, Apple has decided to cancel a planned gala screening of the movie. The Baker was supposed to close out the AFL Fest on Thursday in Hollywood. Now Netflix will screen Noah Baumbach’s ‘Marriage Story’ instead.

Apple released a statement:

“We purchased ‘The Banker’ earlier this year as we were moved by the film’s entertaining and educational story about social change and financial literacy. Last week some concerns surrounding the film were brought to our attention. We, along with the filmmakers, need some time to look into these matters and determine the best next steps. In light of this, we are no longer premiering ‘The Banker’ at AFI Fest.”

As we know more, we will let you know. What do you think about this decision?
