Apple TV+ Halts Production on Charlie Hunnam Show

You probably should have scripts ready when starting production on a TV series. That’s the problem that Apple TV+’s Shantaram is facing right now. The Charlie Hunnam-led show has been halted due to the scripts falling behind. Writer-showrunner Eric Warren Singer has apparently not been able to keep the scripts coming in on time. So far, there are two episodes done.

The show is taking a break so Singer can catch up – so, it’s not like the show’s being canceled or anything. Besides, Singer’s a busy guy. His latest credit is writing Top Gun: Maverick.

Shantaram is about a drug-addicted former bank robber who runs away to Mumbai so he could start over fresh. The show is based on Gregory David Roberts’ novel of the same name. Filmmaker Justin Kurzel has been brought in to direct five out of the ten episodes.

Reports say that all ten episodes have been outlined, but the scripts are behind. The delay is expected to last several months, so who knows if this will affect Kurzel’s availability. Another showrunner is being hired to help everything move along.
