Backward Compatibility Possible for Upcoming Generation of Gaming Systems

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12358″ img_size=”900×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]As the years go by, the next generation of gaming consoles draws nearer. It feels as if it was only last year that we were given the Playstation 4 and Xbox One but we are at the 5 year mark and the next set is inevitable. Gamers have had their curiosities peaked over what those consoles will entail. Hints have been dropped from developers but few hard facts have been learned so far.

One developer, Marc-Andre Jutras (a veteran of such companies as Activision and Ubisoft, had recently spoke to GamingBolt about the possibility of backward compatibility for the upcoming systems. He believes that it is vital for the initial success of both systems. His reasoning is that consumers are more likely to buy a new system if they are not forced to give up the games that they had come to love on the previous systems.  This is a valid reasoning. In the past, there has only been a handful of games that consumers were able to buy upon release and to occupy themselves until the upcoming games have hit their dates.

This seems like more than enough reason for both companies to implement backwards compatibility for their new systems. Only the future will tell on what can be said for fact.
