WWE Crown Jewel once again delivered a night full of unforgettable moments, shocking upsets, and electrifying confrontations that shook the wrestling world to its core. This event, held in Saudi Arabia, not only showcased WWE’s global appeal but also planted seeds for storylines that will carry forward into Survivor Series: War Games and beyond.
Here, we break down the biggest highlights, unexpected twists, and future implications of WWE’s latest premium live event.
Roman Reigns and The Usos vs. The Bloodline
For years, the story of The Bloodline has dominated WWE programming. The saga continued at Crown Jewel when the Usos teamed with Roman Reigns to take on Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu in six-man tag team action.
The New Bloodline won the match after Sikoa surprisingly pinned Reigns but the feud is not anywhere near ending. The ongoing conflict between the two sides continues but The New Bloodline has a solid amount of momentum after Saturday.
This is far from over! After the match, all four members of The New Bloodline attacked Reigns. Jey and Jimmy Uso tried to help Reigns but they were outnumbered. Then, Sami Zayn came out and rejected Sikoa’s invitation to join The New Bloodline. Zayn helped Reigns and the Usos overpower The New Bloodline! We are clearly getting The Original Bloodline vs. The New Bloodline in a WarGames match at Survivor Series.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair vs. Damage CTRL’s Kairi Sane and IYO SKY vs. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson vs. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce convened on the October 25 episode of Raw. The authority figures announced the fatal four-way tag team title match for Crown Jewel. Cargill and Belair, who entered the match as -300 favorites, managed to retain in an entertaining battle.
Cargill and Belair’s reign has been boring and they didn’t need the win. My guess is that they will implode soon, which can lead to the rumored match between both women at WrestleMania.
Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed
After Bronson Reed attacked Seth Rollins almost three months ago, it was clear Seth Rollins would be looking to get his payback upon his return. That happened when Rollins attacked Reed and cost him the “Last Monster Standing” match with Braun Strowman. Since then, Rollins and Reed demanded a match and have attacked each other several times, leading Adam Pearce to announce the match for Crown Jewel.
Having Reed lose was the wrong call, Rollins, at +150 to win the match, could have used ring rust as an excuse, he did not need the win, a loss wouldn’t have hurt him. Beating Reed doesn’t make Rollins a bigger star than he already is. He can take pins and still be credible at this point in his career. Now these men will likely have a rematch at Survivor Series.
Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan vs. WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax
Jax and Morgan are getting a break from long-running rivalries. Jax and Morgan defeated Bayley and Rhea Ripley, respectively, to win the titles at SummerSlam and exited Bad Blood rematches with their titles intact.
Jax won the Queen of the Ring tournament the last time she was in Saudi Arabia, which earned her the SummerSlam title shot. After numerous distractions from Raquel Rodriguez, Dominik Mysterio, and Tiffany Stratton, who tried to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase, Morgan, a -500 favorite to win the symbolic Women’s Crown Jewel Championship, managed to pin Jax.
Now Jax will likely blame Stratton for trying to cash in on her and Liv will brag about her win and get a new challenger on Monday Night Raw.
Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens
Randy Orton demanded a match against Kevin Owens after the prizefighter turned on his former tag team partner. WWE chief content officer Paul Levesque was initially hesitant to grant Orton the match, citing Owens’ brutality and Orton’s age. Orton insisted he hadn’t been hotheaded, asking Levesque what he would do in Orton’s shoes. Levesque conceded and booked the match.
The odds were Orton +250 and Owens -400, but the match never started, Owens assaulted Orton from behind with a chair and it turned into a punishing brawl, with both men going after each other. WWE officials tried to interfere and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce took an RKO from Orton. Owens tried to cost Orton his career and he was able to stand tall in the end.
This will likely lead to a match with a special stipulation. Owens needs to win the feud so WWE can keep building him as a credible heel and a potential champion in the coming months.
United States Champion LA Knight vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes
Andrade and Carmelo Hayes were scheduled to complete their unofficial best-of-seven series. At stake was a shot at the U.S. title. LA Knight did a poor job as the special guest referee, sparking a no-contest after hitting both men with BFTs. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis punished Knight by booking the triple threat title match for Crown Jewel.
Knight, who was at +155 to win, was able to retain after pinning Hayes in a very entertaining back and forth match where all three men shined. I wish the match lasted longer but it was great. It’s hard to know where all men go from here.
Knight has already beaten Andrade and Hayes one-on-one and now in this triple-threat, so someone else will likely feud with him. Andrade was a -200 favorite to win this match and I think he’ll keep feuding with Hayes. They had seven matches against each other but the series ended 3-3-1. I would let them go at it to settle the score once and for all.
The Next WWE PLE
Up next, Survivor Series: War Games, which takes place on November 30 in Vancouver, BC. This is one of WWE’s “Big 5” PLEs. The first one was held in 1987 and is the second-longest running PLE behind WrestleMania.
WWE frequently brings its action-packed events all across North America and internationally as with the Crown Jewel event. Known for its passionate wrestling fan base, North Carolina has become a regular part of WWE’s touring schedule, with RAW, SmackDown, and special live events drawing enthusiastic crowds.
Fans in North Carolina can elevate their experience by taking advantage of NC Sports Betting Promo Codes, letting them engage with the matches in an exciting new way.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. World Heavyweight Champion Gunther
Cody Rhodes beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in April to win his belt. He most recently defended it against Solo Sikoa in a steel cage match on the September 13 episode of SmackDown.
Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship by beating Damian Priest at August’s SummerSlam, and recently retained it against Sami Zayn on the October 7 episode of Raw.
Rhodes and Gunther are both in their first WWE world title reigns, and they’re after the symbolic Men’s Crown Jewel Championship, which is more for bragging rights than anything else.
The match was great, both superstars hit each other with everything they had. In the end, Rhodes managed to counter a sleeper by Gunther to barely get a three-count.
Now Rhodes, a +200 underdog to beat Gunther, will likely get involved in Kevin Owens’s feud with Randy Orton while Gunther feuds with Damian Priest. Thankfully Goldberg didn’t get involved in this match. He was rumored to appear and cost Gunther the match. No offense but he should not be near any world champion in 2024.
However, also on Saturday, Goldberg appeared on the SEC Network in the Florida-Georgia pre-game show and said that he will have his retirement match next year. Gunther was a -300 favorite ahead of the match, as many thought Kevin Owens would cost Cody Rhodes the match, so this was a massive upset.
