Blumhouse Productions Thinking of Creating a Shared Universe

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14733″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Blumhouse is the studio that has brought you Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Happy Death Day, and the latest Halloween movie that has done so well. Founded in 2000, it seems that Jason Blum is looking to start his own shared universe within his own productions. Not only has it accomplished making a lot of money with its installments while not using the largest of budgets, it’s also gotten into the awards realm with such films as Get out and BlacKKKlansman. Jason has even teased that it’s not out of the realm of possibility to see such horror titles as Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream and Friday the 13th under the Blumhouse umbrella.

In relation to the idea of a shared universe, Blum stated:

“We would like to do that. We’re thinking about  it. I probably should have- It would have been easier had I thought of it earlier, but we’re thinking of doing it – with some of them, anyway. And it’s something that I’d really like to do.”

Marvel creating their own cinematic universe has proved insanely successful for their studio, but would it make sense for Blumhouse to do the same? Surely, they could with Halloween and reboots of Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, but how would movies like The Purge or Happy Death Day fit in? It’s been shown that some ambitious attempts to connect separate films, such as Glass; doesn’t always work, but if Blumhouse can pull off all the projects they do and find a way to tie them in, we may all end up surprised.

How do you feel about the idea of a Blumhouse shared universe?
