Finally, we have some news regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 1 content. Season 1 will start December 3, 2019, and promises players “the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history”.
Revealed over on Twitter, the season offers a bunch of new content. At this time we know we’ll get a total of 7 new multiplayer maps including three 2V2 Gunfight maps and one Ground War map. As well as new multiplayer modes, Spec Ops experiences, and weapons.

Season 1 Maps
Call of Duty: Modern warfare’s launch back in October was, for the most part, a success. However, one major problem many of us players had was the games multiplayer maps. I don’t know about you, but like many I find them to be generic and rather boring. Well, now COD 4 fans can rejoice with three classic maps being brought back for Modern Warfare 2019. Crash, Vacant and, Shipment will all be making a return. For any 2V2 Gunfight fans out there we are also getting 3 new maps specifically for that gamemode. In addition to that, there’s also 1 new large Ground war map, a much-needed addition.
Season 1 Gamemodes
Fans are also receiving 3 “new” multiplayer modes on December 3rd. I say “new” but two of these modes appear to be brought over from older Call of Duty games although they may still be tweaked.
- Reinforce. Reinforce was previously featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Think of it as a hybrid between Domination and Search and Destroy. As well as a little bit of Search and Rescue thrown in too. There are three flags around the map, similar to Domination. If you are killed you then spectate the surviving players. We are yet to see if Reinforce will be changed in Modern Warfare from is Ghosts and Infinite Warfare counterparts.
- Gunfight OSP. A new take on Modern Warfares 2V2 Gunfight mode. Players spawn with just their bare hands and have to pick up gear around the map. A little like a really miniature Battle Royal? We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays.
- Infected. Everyone loves a good bit of Infected right? A classic Call of Duty gamemode first introduced all the way back in Modern Warfare 3. One player out of the lobby is randomly chosen to be the first “infected” whilst the other players are the survivors. Survivors have to hold out as long as possible Infected players have to try and infect them. Standard good old Call of Duty fun which I am very excited to play again.
Spec Ops
Aside from Modern warfares Spec Ops mode still being borderline broken another problem is the lack of content at launch. One classic mission and 4 other operations just weren’t enough for players. Now Season 1 promises 4 new Spec Ops experiences named Bomb Squad, Grounded, Pitch Black and, Just Reward. The Season 1 image also states “And More” but we don’t know what that means just yet.
Weapons
2 new weapons are also up for grabs in Season 1. The Ram 7 and Holger-26. We know nothing about these new guns just yet. We don’t even know if you’ll have to unlock all their camos to get Modern Warfare’s rarest camo “Damascus” but if past Call of Duty games are anything to go by hopefully we won’t.
