UPDATE #2: A new report from Production Weekly seemingly confirms our report regarding Alba. Camila Mendes and Danny Ramirez are in talks to join the film. Jenna Ortega no longer seems attached to the film at this time.

UPDATE: Reps for Jenna Ortega have reached out to say the actress has not been cast. We trust our source on this news but have amended the article for now.

Camila Mendes (Do Revenge) is in talks to star and produce ‘ALBA’ alongside Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment. Jenna Ortega and Danny Ramirez are also being eyed for the film as well.

NOTE: We previosuly reported that A24 was the studio involved but have removed them from the article until we can confirm with another source.

UPDATE: Production Weekly lists A24 as the studio in their most recent report.

Jenna Ortega might be the hottest name in Hollywood right now. Coming off her first season of Netflix’s record breaking series, Wednesday, the actress is also geared up for another round with Ghostface in Scream VI.

The film will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Francisca Alegria. Her debut feature The Cow Who Sang A Song Into the Future premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2022. Chelsey Lora will write the script.

The film is an adaptation on the play The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico Garcia Lorca. The story modernizes the play by setting it on the outskirts of Miami. After the death of her husband, Bernarda Alba puts her daughters under a rigorous, traditional mourning.

The film is currently looking to begin filming this Summer.
