Comic Review: High Level #1

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”16138″ img_size=”400×611″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It’s like Mad Max and Fallout with pretty, pastel colors that sometimes reminded me of Final Fantasy. High Level #1 is a gorgeous comic book that opens up to a world that has clearly gone through a post-apocalyptic event, but where it has been long enough that people have adapted, are living, and apparently, don’t know what the Bible is. So, if that gives you any indication of how long it’s been, I think that’s a good start. With a combination of technology and those who live off scraps, our main character is a scavenger called Thirteen.

Thirteen lives the life of someone who lives in her world, while others are always looking for a higher level (get it?) while she ponders if maybe this is all there is to live. Stunningly aesthetic, Thirteen encounters many characters in this issue that are fond of her, while it also seems she may be on the run from the law enforcement that exists.

During her exploration, Thirteen is captured by a hideous creature and the one who saves her may not be exactly a welcomed face in her life. Still, reunited with this person, Thirteen is going to have to go on a mission that will put her in direct line with the place that she so frequently scoffed at – High Level.

This is a must buy, not only for the storyline, but the beautiful imagery. You aren’t going to want to miss High Level and I can’t wait for the next installment, as Thirteen will certainly be in for a journey she never bargained for.[/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”16139,16132,16133,16134,16135,16136,16137″ img_size=”400×611″ speed=”3000″ autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
