When you think of Lois Lane, you in part think of the damsel in distress that Superman saves frequently. Or simply Superman’s love interest. Sure, she’s a reporter. But, in both comics and movies, there hasn’t been much of her other than a plot device.
Lois Lane #1 is all Lois Lane. Clark Kent is in it slightly, but he’s the side character. We see Lois Lane in a very Jessica Jones-esque manner. She is a fiercely dedicated and determined reporter. She’s putting herself front and center. Criticizing modern day politics, with a very transparent connection to real life’s White House. Needless to say, she isn’t afraid to break a few eggs.
I absolutely love this comic series already. Lois Lane is a 12-part maxi-series that is setting up for some great story points. The illustration is done in a very Neo-Noir/Carmen Santiago style. It’s refreshing to see this take on a character that has been fairly one-dimensional for so long.
I would say that Lois Lane #1 must be a comic series that you pay close attention to. I know I will be.
A girl with too many fandoms to count.
