In my personal opinion, Criminal Minds has always left the door open for a Dr. Spencer Reid and J.J. romance since season one. With throwing out the fact that she was the only one to call him “Spence”, to their date, and their chemistry throughout the seasons. Both have told each other things that none of the rest of the team knows and for that, I thought it was only right the series finally address it. Regardless of the hints throughout the years, fans were stunned by the confession in season four’s finale that J.J. loves Reid.
Criminal Minds returns for a 15th and final season and apparently approaches this subject virtually in the beginning of the season.
A.J. Cook, who plays J.J.; commented:
“Well, I can tell you we will find out what happens now that [J.J.] has expressed her true feelings for Dr. Reid.”
Matthew Gray Gubler, who has played Dr. Reid since the series’ first premiered; added:
“Don’t you mean ‘Jeid?’ That’s what the internet is calling us.”
There is no exact premiere date for Criminal Minds season 15, but the show has done well for a series that has lost most of its original cast along the way and was told that it would not last past a week. It’s since become one of the pivotal crime dramas, joining the ranks of Law & Order: SVU, NCIS, and CSI.
