Dave Bautista Talks Joining Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’

The actor who had played Drax the Destroyer was not happy with Disney’s decision and he let them know about it.  He didn’t however, let it keep him from being busy in the meantime. While the Gunn issue got resolved, Bautista continued to find work. One of his latest projects includes Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead.

Bautista has been wanting to work with Snyder for sometime, whom he considers a kindred spirit. Recently Bautista explained how he hooked up with Snyder and Army of the Dead. It all started with another project.

We’d been talking about this other project, which is a really great acting role for me. It’s a passion project for him, but for one reason or another, we just couldn’t get it going. When he got a hold of Army of the Dead, he actually wrote a smaller part for me in there. As he was gearing up for casting, he started thinking about who his lead would be, and he told me this personally, ‘One day, it just clicked: God, Dave is not that part; Dave is my lead.’ So, he called me and asked me if I would do it; I said, ‘Hell yeah. I’d be happy to do it.’ I really just want to work with Zack.

This will be Snyder’s first visit back to the Zombie genre since his first directorial effort in 2004’s Dawn of the Dead. Are you curious to see what Snyder does with Dave Bautista and Army of the Dead? Share your Zombie visions with us at GVNation.
