After eight years of anticipation, David Lee Fisher’s reimagined version of Nosferatu is finally set for release. Titled Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, the film will premiere on Apple TV+ on October 18.
Doug Jones (Hellboy) steps into the role of Count Orlok in this modern reworking of the 1922 silent horror classic. Fisher’s rendition stays true to the original storyline, but with a fresh cast, dialogue, and an entirely new score. However, it’s the visual approach that truly sets this version apart.
The entire film was shot using green screens, with the original film’s scenes providing the digital backdrops. “What will be filled in that green screen is a digitally created backdrop from the original film,” Bloody Disgusting originally reported. This technique creates a fascinating blend of old and new, offering fans an homage to the past while adding a modern twist.
Unlike Robert Eggers’ upcoming Nosferatu starring Bill Skarsgård, Fisher’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is an indie, black-and-white love letter to the 1922 classic.
