DC Comic Review: Martian Manhunter #8

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”28797″ img_size=”411×623″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]J’onn J’onnz and his human partner Diane Meade get to know each other a little better. Actually, it’s J’onn knowing more about Meade. Martian Manhunter #8 is mostly a backstory of Diane and gives us more insight of the person she is and why John meant so much to her.

Diane’s story lets us know why she took the reveal of who J’onn really is so hard. As a cop, who was a damn good cop; she couldn’t escape the smalltown mentality that looks down on a person who is in a same-sex relationship. While Diane doesn’t care, at first; what others say, she insists on keeping it a secret after her relationship with another female cop gets her essentially ran out of town.

It was nice to get to see Diane’s story – to know what drives her and makes her who she is. To also have her affirm her dedication to J’onn was really cool to see. This is a partnership I’m sure J’onn never expected, but no matter the challenges, Diane is there.

As always, the art is great in this issue and we got some real heart behind Diane’s story. Next comic is set up for something huge and I can’t wait to read it![/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”28789,28790,28791,28792,28793,28794,28795,28796″ img_size=”411×631″ speed=”3000″ autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
