Featuring even more funky aliens and even a “god”, the stakes are high in this issue, and Hal Jordan is the one to get to the bottom of everything. After all, what’s more threatening than the safety of Earth being in jeopardy?
There is much less idle talking in the third issue than there was in the second issue, with Hal Jordan leading the other Green Lanterns in their mission to save the planet. From Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp, this is a high stake issue that leaves your mind racing and your heart thumping. We always want the heroes to come out on top, but with the universe’s baddest of the bad all pining for a piece of the action, you wonder if the Lanterns are enough to fight them off and win.
There’s one page, in particular, that is just so utterly cool and there is no other way I can describe it. See all of the Lanterns together, ready to fight, was such an aesthetically pleasing piece of artwork. It simply made you excited to see this fight and I appreciate every fine attention to detail in this illustration. When it comes to Grant and Liam’s work, there is a display of talent that has to be appreciated.
We can see how this threat is putting pressure on Hal, especially at the end panel – the lengths that he is willing to go to ensure the safety of Earth. This is all around a great issue.
