Did D23 Expo reveal that Thanos is too smart to be snapped away by a mere plot device?

Avengers: Endgame snapped away Thanos via Tony Stark’s gauntlet, but can a mere lame plot device snap away possibly the smartest villain in Marvel history?

Avengers: Endgame ended Thanos and his thugs at the movie’s conclusion and I have to say it was a rather lame way to end The Mad Titan, wouldn’t you say? In Marvel Comics history he had always been one step ahead and even transferred his consciousnesses into a computer system at the event of his death.

Also, with Doctor Strange’s observation of millions of scenarios to how they’d fare in this battle, there’s no telling when Thanos will be still alive in some fashion or had been prepared for his death and have it undone. Since he DID observe The Avengers attempting to undo what he’d done with the Infinity Gauntlet, he may have prepared himself with a contingency or back-up plan of his own.

Comics History To Inspire A Thanos MCU Return?

Earlier this year in the Guardians of the Galaxy No. 1 comic it was mentioned via Comic Book Resources that upon Thanos’ death, his last will and testament mentioned him being resurrected via some other character’s body with the aid of the Asgardian Hela.

Also ComicBookMovie.com posted some D23 Expo photos a la a retweet via TableOfContent Twitter page and from what they ascertained from the slated future characters of Disney Plus, they figured Thanos may pop up encountering characters of the cosmos. Keep in mind back in April, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said to Variety that the Disney Plus Marvel characters “will intersect with the movies in a very big way,” explains Feige. “It’s a totally new form of storytelling that we get to play with and explore”.

From what I grasped here, ComicBookMovie figured that we could likely see Thanos’ existence pre-Infinity War days, but I couldn’t help but to think Feige’s statement with the emphasis on “a very big way” that the flicks will intersect with the small screen streaming service.

A quote at the end of ComicBookMovie:

“Long before he came to Earth, Thanos terrorized the cosmos, and based on some of the other characters set to appear in this series, there’s a very good chance that we’ll see him cross paths with some cosmic beings or even the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

The MCU flicks do have some elements of the paper publications in them, but Marvel Studios does a good enough job with not entirely duplicating the old stories too much.

Thanos Could Have Had A Back-Up Plan

Though this is a pre-Infinity War speculation, I theorize that with The Mad Titan, who had access to the Pym Particles which got him and his legion of adversaries to 2012, could have some on reserve. I believe a seed was planted here that the audience doesn’t know about to make use of the particles yet again, but by an alternate version of Thanos.

We already saw that Nebula had a component in her skull that wound up connecting the two Nebulas in the same time line, so I wouldn’t put it past the high IQ’ed Thanos to have a back-up plan. He may have expected The Avengers to chase him down and behead him and had been steps ahead of them the entire time.

We had already seen Loki disappear off with the Tesseract in Endgame, which by no doubt bode to contribute a serious alteration of the time line. With the Loki TV series on deck, perhaps this event in said movie will come forth in Disney Plus.

Thanos is a thinker, a brainstormer, and with such an IQ as to outwit many of his oppositions, I am guessing he could pop up somewhere in the timeline. So we’ll see as and maybe we’ll be surprised yet again by the purple beast of a villain.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
