Disney’s Animated ‘Robin Hood’ Next In Line For Remake Treatment

With Disney’s perchance to revisit their animated classics, it comes as no surprise that they have chosen their next target. This time it’s their animal take on the classic tale of Robin Hood.

Originally released in 1973, the tale had forest animals taking over the roles of the merry men and Robin Hood. For this treatment, Carlos Lopez Estrada, who is best known for directing the 2018 crime movie Blindspotting, will helm the project. It is being written by Kari Granlund. Granlund has already written for the studio in their recent remake of Lady and the Tramp. Like Lady and the Tramp, this film is being produced for the Disney+ streaming network.

For those unfamiliar, though there may be very few, Robin Hood was a comedic and musical take on the famous tale. In this case, Robin Hood was a fox; Little John a bear; Friar Tuck a badger and Prince John was a thumb-sucking lion. In addition, the sheriff of Nottingham was a wolf; and Maid Marian was also a Fox (go figure). The tale was told by a singing Rooster voiced by Roger Miller. I still remember some of the songs.

Are you ready for another attempt by Disney to bring an animated classic to life? Does Robin Hood fit the bill for such a transition or are there other films better suited? Perhaps NONE. Share your thoughts on the matter with Geek Vibes Nation.
