[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”17155″ img_size=”640×350″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It seems like once upon a time, everyone was in the running to play Superman. An iconic character, who has had many iterations; his presence was in films far longer than the current superhero-filled industry. We already have found out that Doom Patrol’s Matt Bomer was screen tested to play the man of steel in a scrapped movie by J.J. Abrams and it seems he isn’t the only one out of the DC Universe’s cast to have been in the running.
Brendan Fraser, who is a movie icon; and plays Robotman in Doom Patrol, talks about how he had auditioned for the role of Superman in the scrapped movie:
“It was cool, it was pretty cool. I mean, I didn’t get the job. It went away. Brett Ratner was a bit “woo hoo” in those days, and that’s well documented. And that was a script J.J. Abrams wrote but it never got made. And it was freaking Shakespeare in space. It was so cool. It was worlds colliding and, it was really, really cool. But you know, I hear he’s done well since then. (Laughs)”
There have been plenty of movies that never made it, such as Nicolas Cage’s own Superman movie, but it would have been interesting to see J.J. Abrams get his hands on a man of steel film. Would you have liked to see Fraser as Superman? And are you enjoying Doom Patrol? Let us know!
