‘Foundation’ Episode Four Review: Was Hari Seldon Right?

Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) predicted that the Empire would fall – something that the Empire scoffed at initially. While it seemed that the Empire looked to take precautions, they never thought that this ominous prediction would come to fruition. However, it seems that Hari might have been right and that those in power need to prepare for the inevitable fall of their kingdom.

    Slight Spoilers

My review of episode four of Apple TV+’s Foundation is a tad late, but nevertheless, this continues to be one of my favorite shows that I’ve seen in a long time. I especially enjoy the question of humanity and what it means to be living that is the theme of this episode. I know I continuously hyper-focus on Lee Pace in my reviews, but when you add such a great aspect to a character, you can’t help it. Foundation really has done a great job in splitting the Empire into three people and while Lee Pace is always playing Brother Day, he plays different versions that are always somewhat similar, but you can tell when certain time has passed and that the person we’re seeing is a different version of Brother Day. Pace does this well.

    Rating: 4/5

I’m also really enjoying the story on Terminus, which finds its own troubles. The theme of this episode is heavily focused on the fact that no one truly heeded Hari’s warning years ago. I think that this is something that can be applied to modern day. I know that the story of Foundation was originally meant to be a futuristic version of the fall of the Roman Empire, but allow me to be real for a moment. Subjects like climate change were scoffed at a decade ago and I think it’s very obvious that these were warnings we should have heeded, as we’re seeing the change now. I’m not sure if that’s a little too political for a TV show review, but we all know that art imitates life.

What’d you think of this episode of Foundation?
