Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage Teases Tyrion Lannister’s Fate

Tyrion Lannister has been a fan favorite for some time now. Done masterfully by Peter Dinklage, the actor has brought to life the George R.R. Martin character and throughout every season, he remains as one of the most popular. Dinklage’s performance as the Game of Thrones character was recognized at this year’s Emmy Awards, where the actor took home an award for Best Supporting. Tyrion walks into season eight, but will he be one of those who ends up getting out alive? We may have to worry, fans.

In a recent interview with Vulture, the actor decided to indulge, through discretely; what we can expect of Tyrion’s fate:

“I feel very, very — I’m trying to find the right word.” Dinklage explained. “I think he was given a very good conclusion. No matter what that is — death can be a great way out.”

Death can be a great way out? Whoa, Dinklage, no one wants to hear that kind of talk when it comes to one of the best characters the show has to offer. This is vague to say the least, but I have to admit that it does make me more nervous than I previously was.

Going further into wrapping up filming on the HBO show, Dinklage stated:

“It’s always anticlimactic for the character’s last day. Nothing is shot chronologically, so you don’t get some big mountaintop scene or anything. It’s just, ‘That’s a wrap on Peter Dinklage.’ But as anticlimactic as it was, my last day was also beautifully bittersweet. A lot of people whom I love were on set that day. Even if they weren’t working, they came to set, which was beautiful. I tried to do the same thing when other [Game of Thrones] actors were wrapping out. If it was their day, you would go to set to say good-bye.”

“It was really hard.” Dinklage continued. “I won’t say their name or their character’s name, but one of the young people on the show wrapped this past season and everybody was a wreck. This person had grown up on the show, you know? They were a child and now they were an adult. And then they’re done. It’s like we were witnessing this person saying good-bye to their childhood. I know Game of Thrones is just a TV show, la-di-da, but it was our life.”

We can only imagine how emotional it must be for any of those longstanding actors on the show now that it’s all wrapped up and the last of it not premiering until sometime in 2019. All I can say is, we know it’s going to hurt.

Who do you think will make it out alive and whose days are numbered?
