Video Quality
Green Lantern: The Animated Serieslooks gorgeous on Blu-Ray with its 1080p transfer in 1.78:1. The series consists of 26 episodes spread across two discs. Even with a ton of episodes packed on a disc, there are no indications that the disc is struggling to hold everything as compression artifacts are seldom in play. Colors are wonderfully vibrant and bold throughout the entire run. The digital animation style does not lend itself to the complex texture of hand-drawn animation, but it thrives in high definition. Black levels run surprisingly deep with no crush detected. There is the occasional background banding, but overall deficiencies in the transfer are kept to a minimum. Everything looks perfectly clear for a top-notch viewing experience. This presentation gets the job done without breaking a sweat.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray set comes with an impactful DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio track that serves the show well. Music soars without losing track of other important elements. Sound effects from action set pieces and other kinetic moments provide a mighty rumble in the low end that is appreciated. The show employs some welcome environmental effects that render well in the stereo mix. Dialogue is placed front and center with a crisp, clear presentation in the center speaker. This treats this series with a great deal of respect. This release comes with optional English SDH subtitles.

Final Thoughts
Green Lantern: The Animated Series is one of the best depictions of the character that we have seen outside of the pages of a comic book. It takes a couple of episodes to get settled, but this series provides a good mixture of overarching plot with adventure-of-the-week fun. It is a shame that the fate of the series seemed so tied to the success of the live-action film, as this captures what is so interesting about the character so much better. Despite its cancellation, these 26 episodes tell a fairly contained story that we will cherish all the same. Warner Archive has released a Blu-Ray set with a great A/V presentation but no supplemental features. DC fans should not sleep on this one. Recommended
