This weeks finds the arrival of the latest Oscar-nominated drama from Steven Spielberg as The Fabelmans heads to 4K UHD Blu-Ray courtesy of Universal. This semi-autobiographical tale comes with Dolby Vision and new bonus features including behind-the-scenes featurettes with the cast and creative team. Hear more about this one on The Video Attic below. Elsewhere in the land of the fantastical we find the newest from Disney animation with Strange World hitting 4K UHD Blu-Ray. This one comes with an audio commentary and an exclusive SteelBook if you head over to Best Buy!
After expressing our excitement for the release of Kamen Rider Ryuki last week, we are excited to follow that up with another long-running Japanese tokusatsu television franchise. Shout! Factory is bringing the complete run of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger to DVD with 50 episodes on 8 discs. Perhaps best know in the US as the source material used to create the Power Rangers series, this early 2000s entry into the franchise brings together all of the best elements that fans love about the series. The variety of personalities within the rangers are welcome as you get some really rewarding character dynamics at play. There are many contrasting points of view which makes the drama more exciting. You also have so many interesting mecha and alien designs that are not always used in the expected ways. There is an attempt to shake up the formula a good deal which really helps things feel fresh and exciting. Many fans have regarded this one as one of the best entries in the franchise, and it is hard to disagree. If you are a fan of the genre, you are going to want to pick this up to show your support for future releases.
Those looking out for brand-new films hitting physical media have quite a range to pick from. International cinema fans will be racing to get their hands on the latest from Park Chan-wook as the twisty and sultry Decision To Leave heads to Blu-Ray courtesy of MUBI. Perhaps the complete opposite arrives from Warner Bros. as the remake of House Party hits Blu-Ray after debuting earlier this year. Fans of bloody genre fare will want to take note of South Korea’s Project Wolf Hunting from Well Go USA. The amount of blood left on the floor is enough to sustain most normal action movies all year.
This is only a taste of the incredibly packed lineup you have to look forward to you this week. Be sure to check out the full list below after checking out The Video Attic where we discuss the hip hop crime drama Belly starring DMX and Nas on 4K UHD, the latest season of Fear The Walking Dead from Lionsgate, the action-fantasy classic Highlander on 4K UHD, new releases from Mill Creek Entertainment, Warner Archive, Kino Classics and more.
