We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in home entertainment week in and week out. For the week of July 11th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get the full rundown of what you should have on your wishlist, plus take a chance to check out what Michael and I are spotlighting on The Video Attic this week.
This weeks finds the arrival of one of the most exciting music documentaries ever to be released. Disney welcomes the eight-hour The Beatles: Get Back to Blu-Ray with Dolby Atmos in a really fetching Collector’s Edition packaging, perfect for any fans of the lovable lads. Speaking of elaborate packages, Shout! Factory is releasing the complete run of the classic TV series The Six Million Dollar Man on Blu-Ray with 33 discs of episodes restored from the original negatives plus hours of special features. You know you want to hear Bryan Cranston randomly talking about his early experiences in the entertainment industry.
Elsewhere in the land of television, we have two modern genre shows for fans to keep an eye on. While behind-the-scenes drama has been more newsworthy than the actual content itself, fans of The CW’s Arrowverse drama Batwoman can finish out its relatively brief run with its third and final season. Star Trek fans have reason to celebrate this week as the second season of the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks hits Blu-Ray with a solid array of special features. This one is one of our favorite Trek properties currently airing.
In the land of the Criterion Collection (now having their 50% off sale at Barnes & Noble), we have two eagerly anticipated titles making their 4K UHD and Blu-Ray debut. First off, we have Martin Scorsese’s knockout drama Raging Bull starring Robert De Niro in his Oscar-winning role alongside Joe Pesci. The release is available in 4K UHD with a host of new interviews and other supplements. We also have the Blu-Ray debut of Summertime starring Katharine Hepburn from director David Lean. This release comes from a new 4K restoration and adds some insightful new special features.
This is only a taste of the incredibly packed lineup you have to look forward to you this week. Be sure to check out the full list below after checking out The Video Attic where we discuss the 4K UHD Blu-Ray release of the Tom Cruise favorite Edge Of Tomorrow from Warner Bros., a host of eco-horror TV movies from Kino Classics, an exploration of the hit crime series Gomorrah, new releases from Mill Creek, Criterion, Film Movement Classics and more.
