When you’re smaller than everyone else, it is hard to garner respect. Especially from those who judge specifically by size and not by any other attributes. On the other hand, that same pre-conception can lead to an adversary under-estimating that person’s abilities. In Oni Press “The Littlest Fighter” by Joey Weiser, that might have been the case early on for Ash, a “monster fighter” who was smaller than anyone he took on. But in time, his ability to defeat every creature he came across started to change that narrative. Soon, his legend was being told from village to village.
It was Ash’s dream to be considered the greatest fighter ever. But that would require him to locate the Legendary Champion. A fighter who held that mantle until he disappeared without a trace. However, his legend still remained. If Ashe could find him and defeat him, his legacy would last forever. At least that was Ash’s plan. But for his new friend Dot, she wished Ash would just forget his quest and stop fighting. If for no other reason than to stop the damage to property he was causing in his many battles. This is the premise for Oni Press “The Littlest Fighter.”
Coming March 18th, we are pleased to present these exclusive pages from Eisner Award nominated creator Joey Weiser and “The Littlest Fighter.” This is followed by an exclusive quote from the creator.
Creator Joey Weiser
“Welcome to the world of The Littlest Fighter! Across the land, gigantic creatures battle for supremacy, but don’t call them monsters! An inspiration for this book is obviously giant monster movies, but I wanted to populate the world with inhuman characters of all different sizes, so I had to think of them a little differently. The rules aren’t complicated, but there are some titles, and a hierarchy established within the chaos they cause.”
Oni Press “The Littlest Fighter,” by Joey Weiser comes to bookstores on March 18th. Be sure to check out our interview with Joey coming soon at Geek Vibes Nation.
