[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”27148″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The Sopranos prequel movie is currently in the works, but the HBO President says that he’s open for a prequel series. Originally titled The Many Saints of Newark, now renamed simply Newark; is set in the 1960s. It features Michael Gandolfini as Tony, who is the son of the late James Gandolfini. Newark will take place during the race riots of 1967.

HBO President Casey Bloys stated:

“I keep saying ‘never say never’. There are no plans, there is no discussions about it, but (Michael) is a really good actor, we had him on The Deuce. There is nothing on the table at the moment but I will stay open.”

Joining Gandolfini is Alessandro Nivola as Dickie Moltisanti. This is the father of Christopher Moltisanti, who was discussed in the original series, but was never shown on screen. We also have Vera Farmiga and Jon Bernthal who are being rumored, based on set photos; to be Tony’s parents. Ray Liotta joins in and fans speculate Corey Stoll will play a young Junior. Joining them is Billy Magnussen and John Magaro.

Newark will be released on September 25, 2020.
