Let us travel back in time, when the West was wild and historical figures were seen as commonly as bar fights and crooked gamblers. No, we’re not talking about the 1800’s, were talking about March 21st 2004 when HBO premiered Deadwood. It proved to be quite popular with both fans and critics alike in its three season stint. When it reached its conclusion in August of 2006, there were plans for a possible feature length movie that never quite reached fruition, until now.

HBO has announced that production has begun on its long awaited Deadwood film. It will take place 10 years after the end of the original Deadwood series. In addition, HBO has also announced the movie will feature the return of 12 of its stars. Ian McShane (Al Swearengen), Timothy Olyphant (Seth Bullock), Molly Parker (Alma Ellsworth), Paula Malcomson (Trixie), John Hawkes (Sol Star), Anna Gunn (Martha Bullock), Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter), Brad Dourif (Doc Cochran), Robin Weigert (Calamity Jane Canary), William Sanderson (E.B. Farnum), Kim Dickens (Joanie Stubbs), and Gerald McRaney (George Hearst) are all set to reprise their roles from the original series.

Although its been a twelve year wait, how do you feel about Deadwood finally getting a full-length movie? Share you thoughts about the return of Deadwood with us at GVNation.
