Henry Cavill Responds To His Return As Superman Rumors; Wanting To Leave Comments Under An Alias

Since Henry Cavill joined Zack Snyder back in May for the Man of Steel screening that not only broke the internet when Zack’s version of Justice League was announced for HBO Max but also had fans wondering if Cavill might return as the Man of Steel himself. Then there was the news that WB was going to halt development on Supergirl while they figured out what to do with Superman. All of this has led to rumor upon rumor that Cavill is coming back. Even the big Hollywood trades got involved and said he was returning in a cameo role, then they seemed to back track on even that.

Well Cavill once again was asked in an interview with Variety and responded to the rumors saying

They get wilder and wilder by the day. The amount of speculation, the stuff I read on the Internet, is extraordinary and sometimes frustrating. It’s when you see people stating stuff as fact. Like, “No, that’s not the case. That hasn’t happened, and that conversation isn’t happening.” But the important thing is that people are excited about it, and I think it’s important to be excited about a character like Superman. Superman is a fantastic character. If people are chatting about it, and even if they’re making stuff up, it’s okay, because that means they want to see the character again. And in an ideal world, I would absolutely love to play the character again.

Cavill lives and breathes Superman and everyone for the most part would love to see him return to the role. Henry says he even has thought about posting under an alias and commenting on the rumors

I’m not going to lie; I’ve been very tempted, but there’s something about that, that feels deeply immoral. When it’s about Superman, and if I’m representing Superman, it just feels like the wrong thing to do. I’m just going to let this all play out. Me saying something isn’t going to make a difference. What does it really matter? One day, people will know the truth, and if they don’t know it now, it’s okay.

DC FanDome is in August and if anything Superman related is going to be announced in 2020 in an official capacity then that is going to be the place. August cannot come soon enough!
