Professional Czech high diver Andrea Absolonová’s Olympic dreams are shattered when she suffers a devastating injury while training. Forced to leave the sport she loves, Andrea follows a photographer friend of hers into the world of nude modeling, ultimately reinventing herself as adult actress Lea De Mae and performing in over 80 porn films. Based on the tragic true story, HER BODY chronicles Absolonová’s journey as she navigates the seductive undercurrents of fame and desire, and her quest for self-liberation in this powerful portrait of resilience.

Video Quality
Her Body arrives on Blu-Ray courtesy of Film Movement with a fantastic 1080p presentation that ideally represents this film. This is a stunning film with a variety of environments designed to showcase the distinct worlds of our main character. There is a strong amount of detail in close-up shots of the clothing and production design. Colors are faithfully saturated with some of the bold, vibrant colors coming alive at the industry parties. Skin tones look natural, and there are some beneficial facial details present. Black levels hold firm with no crush observed, and highlights avoid blooming. Compression artifacts and other digital anomalies are avoided throughout. The film looks great in high definition.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray comes with an LPCM 2.0 track and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track in the original Czech that are top-notch. This largely dialogue-driven affair emerges without any moments getting short-changed in clarity. We also appreciate the care put into replicating the sounds of the city and interior spaces. The track flourishes with subtle sounds of nature flowing out of the speakers. Environmental sounds come through well, and dialogue is crisp and clear without being clipped by the music or sound effects. There is some subtle texture in the low end but it does not attempt to be a major player in that regard. This track does a very good job of bringing this one to life.
Special Features
- Aid Kid, Justin Lavesh & Maryland – “Climb Up High”: A three-minute music video that includes clips from the film and footage that didn’t make the final cut.

Final Thoughts
Her Body tells the real-life story of a woman who took a major diversion from her intended career path once life interjected with its fair share of obstacles. Since this story is relatively obscure, there remains a keen sense of wonder and discovery as you see the story to the end. Even when you do find out the full scope of this story, the power of it remains as effective as ever. Given the adult nature of some of the plot developments, you may expect this to be a crude or exploitative endeavor, but this film remains very respectful of its subject and compelling as a character journey. Film Movement has provided a Blu-Ray with a healthy A/V presentation along with a brief supplement. Don’t let the subject matter scare you off, this is a terrific discovery. Recommended
Her Body is currently available to purchase on Standard Edition Blu-Ray or with a Limited Edition Slipcover exclusively through Vinegar Syndrome.

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
