Last year we were the first to report that Disney was working to bring back the Sanderson Sisters for Hocus Pocus 2. While reports came out yesterday that Hocus Pocus 2 will be directed by Adam Shankman, the report also said the original cast was not attached. The original cast from Bette Midler to Sarah Jessica Parker have all hinted they would love to return.
We have spoken with a reliable source who also has confirmed to GVN that Better Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are set to return. But……that is not all the news we wanted to share with you. Another source of ours has told us some details about the sequel. The film is going to explore more of the Sanderson Sisters backstory – it’s also going to do a few flashbacks to their younger days as well as feature them present day. We have not been able to confirm the details yet with the studio or others in the know, but I trust our source on this.
How do you feel about this news? Are you happy to see the Hocus Pocus sequel progressing?
Hocus Pocus debuted in 1993 and starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.
Synopsis: After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches’ book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.
