Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart Awarded Guinness World Records for Longest Running Marvel Superheroes

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Patrick Stewart as Professor X are two of the most iconic castings in modern day cinema. Both began their careers as the famous Marvel characters in 2000 and both concluded their time as the characters in 2017’s Logan. Their time as their characters is now being recognized by the Guinness World Records, who have dubbed them as setting the record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero.” Both have played their parts for 16 years and 228 days; they’re both be added into the 2020 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

This is a huge accomplishment and one that I’m sure us fans will love. Jackman and Stewart have forever been etched as these characters and even though James McAvoy is great as Professor X and Harry Lloyd will be playing the iconic character in FX’s Legion, it doesn’t feel like anyone can take Stewart’s place in our hearts. Jackman has stated before that he will not return to the character, due to his age, but that’s okay. He gave us a fantastic Swan Song in Logan and I am perfectly content with that closing the chapter.

Samuel L. Jackson and Jon Favreau will be tied for the MCU’s record after Spider-Man: Far From Home and if either of them can make it until 2025, they’ll take the record.
