Just recently over the weekend IDW came out and said they were partnering with Ánima Studios to bring Brutal Nature to the screen, an adult animation based on the comic book written by Luciano Saracino and the artist Ariel Olivetti. Now according to a report from Deadline IDW Entertainment is adapting four more graphic novel stories including Dark Spaces: Wildfire, this makes it their 5th series in development.

Dark Spaces: Wildfire is the first installment of the Dark Spaces series. Created by writer Scott Snyder and artist Hayden Sherman. The story follows a group of female firefighters who are fighting a fire in the California Hills. However, they must make the choice to either stick to their job fighting the fire or chase some money in a way to get out of their life struggles by jumping the bandwagon and joining a heist.

The Delicacy, created by James Albon, follows the brother duo of Tulip and Rowan as they enter the big city restaurant business. However, struggling to find their place in the culinary world, they soon come across a mushroom that draws in the crowd. Now the only problem is how do we grow more of this delicious mushroom? James Albon takes readers on a journey of how far someone will go for success.

Rivers, created by David Gaffney and artist Dan Berry, follows a group of three ordinary people all in different stages of their life. However, none of them are connected in any way except through a recurring dream.

Brutal Nature, created by Luciano Sarachino and artist Ariel Olivetti follows a collection of masks that transforms a young man known as Ich which transforms him into different beasts and monsters. He must then use these new powers to defend the massive forces of the conquering spanish empire.

Ballad for Sophie created by Portuguese musician Filipe Melo and artist Juan Cavia follows a young journalist who encourages a hermit-like pianist to open up.

IDW Executive Vice President, Paul Davidson, spoke with Deadline about the company’s decision to adapt the graphic novels and comics, he said:

The IDW and Top Shelf originals represent some of the most creative, artistic, and unique stories to hit the marketplace. Not only are we excited to share this amazing slate with the industry, but we are even more thrilled to join forces with these great partners to bring them to audiences. This is just the first step in tapping our robust library of originals and adapting them into compelling series, feature films, and podcasts with the industry’s leading storytellers and content creators.

Taking a step back from more of the mainstream comic book stories and heroes, it’s a nice step back and journey into some other not so well known stories and comic book fans have some new series to look forward to coming to their screens.
