Invisible Man Revival Brings Together Upgrade Director and Blumhouse Productions

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14293″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]There was a time in Hollywood, during the era of black and white films; that every well-known horror character got his own movie. Werewolf, Doran Gray, Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Invisible Man.

The last one is making a comeback, bringing together Upgrade director Leigh Whannell and Jason Blum, who is set to produce the film through Blumhouse Productions. This will be a fresh start to the Universal monster properties and with these two teaming up again, it’s going to be good. For those concerned, Johnny Depp is no longer attached to the Invisible Man project.

There was once upon a time, before the MCU and DCEU that the studios were planning a connected monsters universe, but that fell through. Now with Invisible Man, it seems like we have the right directors and people behind this to maybe make another go of it.

Peter Cramer, Universal’s president of production, commented:

“Throughout cinematic history, Universal’s classic monsters have been reinvented through the prism of each new filmmaker who brought these characters to life. We are excited to take a more individualized approach for their return to screen, shepherded by creators who have stories they are passionate to tell with them.”

What do you think about bringing these monsters back to the big screen? Is this an era for it? And what should they revive next?
