Jake Gyllenhaal Requested More Air Time for Mysterio Costume Because He Loved it So Much

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13676″ img_size=”966×520″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio costume is one of the best live-action adaptations of a signature look that we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even the distinct fishbowl looks amazing, as well as just how well structured it looks. Still, those behind the movie were skeptical about how it would turn out on screen and how it would be received by audiences, which we now see that there wasn’t any need for concern – we love the costume. And, a lot should be attributed to Gyllenhaal who loved the outfit so much, he insisted it be on screen more than it was originally planned.

EP Eric Carroll explained to Screen Rant:

“We were just assuming – since we did end up building a fully practical costume – that our actor wouldn’t want to spend time in it, and then we were like, to make sure we get the caliber actor we want for this, we made it clear, “we won’t make you wear this stuff when you don’t have to.” So on and so forth. So, for example, this is a scene — this is a briefing scene. We had said, “you can just look cool. You can just look like a cool mercenary man. You can have your t-shirt on, leather jacket and jeans.” And he was like, “Can I be in the costume? I really feel the character, I get it.” So, not only is this costume practical, but he wears it everywhere it makes sense to wear it. So we think this looks amazing. We’re super excited about bringing him to the screen.”

Thank you, Jake Gyllenhaal, because we would be missing out if it weren’t for your request! How did you receive the Mysterio costume and are you excited for Spider-Man: Far From Home, which comes out in theaters on July 2[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
