The controversial horror movie made headlines when its theatrical release was pulled. This was due to the recent mass shootings and the content of The Hunt – which was originally named Red State vs Blue State. A horror film about Red State individuals being hunted by Blue State individuals didn’t seem appropriate considering the political climate.
Producer Jason Blum still hopes that one day The Hunt will be released:
“I learned a lot of lessons. Wouldn’t alter my … If I was offered the choice to make the movie again, I would say yes. We definitely made marketing mistakes, and we made plenty of mistakes along the way. So I’ve learned a lot. It might change how I would position movies and how I would consult on the marketing of the movies. But actually the making of the movies? No.”
When asked if we may ever see The Hunt, Blum answered:
“Definitely a chance. I hope so.”
