According to the DisInsider, actor Javier Bardem is rumored to be in talks of playing Ariel’s father in the live-action remake of the Little Mermaid. This is the same source that told the news outlet about Harry Styles being Prince Eric. And while there are other names in the mix, Bardem is in talks.
Another bit of information is that the movie will focus more on Ariel’s mother; Disney is currently in the process of casting for that part. Melissa McCarthy is currently in talks to star and voice Ursula.
The Little Mermaid will be directed by Bob Marshall and production is expected to begin next January.
