There’s been a lot of back and forth when it comes to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Prior to the Marvel director joining the project, it was assumed that everyone from the 2016 film would be returning. Then news came out that the Gunn led movie would be a reboot, with none of the actors from the previous film returning. Now, news slowly trickles in that Viola Davis, Margot Robbie, and even Jai Courtney (confirmed by himself) will be coming back, but the others are questionable as of this moment.
It seems, though; one actor is confirmed to return who others had previously thought wouldn’t come back. Joel Kinnaman, who played Rick Flagg in the first Suicide Squad, will be reprising his role as the disgruntled soldier who seemingly has to babysit the squad.
Kinnaman posted this on Instagram.

With all the news of those from 2016’s version of the movie coming back, we have to wonder if all the new characters such as the Polkadot Man and Ratcatcher are all canon fodder? We’ll have to wait to find out, but how do you feel about Kinnaman returning to the squad and do you think this means we will see more from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad join Gunn’s adaptation? You can find Kinnaman now on Amazon Prime’s Hanna.
