It’s all over. The votes are in and looking ahead, 2019 might be the biggest year ever for geeks like myself. Some of the biggest (and in “Game of Thrones” case, most awarded) TV shows of all time are coming to a close next year. 2019 will mark the end of “Game of Thrones”, “Gotham”, and possibly “Marvel’s Agents of Shield.” It will also see the end of the “Infinity War”saga with release of “Avenger’s 4” (or whatever they end up calling it). Perhaps the title will be: “Avengers 4: The quest to bring back all of the heroes we have future movies planned for.” That might be a little wordy…it’s a work in progress.
So if that isn’t enough for 2019, there is Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,” DC’s “Shazam” (the OTHER Captain Marvel), and “Wonder Woman 1984.” To be honest, if all that doesn’t excite you, it might be time to have your pulse checked. Go ahead, I’ll wait. In the meantime, we still have to get through 2018. Bummer, I know.
Now that I’ve got some of you booking time with your therapists, it’s not ALL bad news. So far in 2018, we have had “Marvel’s Black Panther,” the aforementioned “Avenger’s Infinity War, and recently “Ant Man and the Wasp.” But don’t touch that dial, we also have Tom Hardy as “Venom” with a tentative release date of October 5th, as well as the animated “Spider-Man into the Spiderverse” shooting toward a December release. On the DC side, there is AquaMan with Jason Momoa to look forward to with a release date of December 21st. I would like to mention other DCU movies this year but unfortunately, there will not be anything ready until 2019 at the earliest. Hey, Marvel had a head start. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Right, DC? Right?? So it’s a great time to be a fan these days and in the year ahead and you can count on Geek Vibes Nation to be talking about it or writing about it…all that stuff. Trust me, it’s only going to get better.
