March 2020 Movie Release List

As February’s heart fades, the Hulk colored clover of March has been lying in the wait and is ready to spread its petals. Furthermore, a new month means new popcorn-filled theatrical experiences. Emily Dickinson once wrote, “March is the month of expectation” and judging by these trailers, I think it’s safe to say that we can expect some great stories on the big and small screen. Below is a full list of theatrical and streaming releases for March. You may notice “(Limited Release)” beside some of the titles meaning that the film will only be in theaters for a short time and usually only at select theaters. Without further ado, the March 2020 Movie Release List. Enjoy!

The Way Back – March 6th

A former HS basketball phenom, struggling with alcoholism, is offered a coaching job at his alma mater. As the team starts to win, he may have a reason to confront his old demons. But will it be enough to set him on the road to redemption?

Spenser Confidential – March 6th (Netflix)

When two Boston Police officers are murdered, ex-cop Spenser teams up with his no-nonsense roommate, Hawk, to take down criminals in this action-comedy.

Sorry We Missed You – March 6th (Limited Release)

A powerful exploration of the contemporary world of work, the gig economy and the challenges faced by one family trying to hold it all together.

Bacurau – March 6th (Limited Release)

A few years from now… Bacurau, a small village in the Brazilian sertão, mourns the loss of its matriarch, Carmelita, who lived to be 94. Days later, its inhabitants notice that their village has literally vanished from most maps and a UFO-shaped drone starts flying overhead. There are forces that want to expel them from their homes, and soon, in a genre-bending twist, a band of armed mercenaries led by Udo Kier arrive in town picking off the inhabitants one by one. A fierce confrontation takes place when the townspeople turn the tables on the villainous outsiders, banding together by any means necessary to protect and maintain their remote community.
Escape From Pretoria – March 6th (Limited Release)
Tim Jenkins, a real-life ANC activist who was imprisoned in Africa’s maximum-security prison Pretoria in the 1970s during the Apartheid. Along with two imprisoned fellow freedom fighters, Tim escaped on the 11th of December 1970 using hand-made wooden keys which he crafted whilst incarcerated.
Run This Town – March 6th (Limited Release)
An emerging political scandal in Toronto in 2013 seen through the eyes of young staffers at city hall and a local newspaper.
First Cow – March 6th (Limited Release)
A taciturn loner and skilled cook has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds true connection with a Chinese immigrant also seeking his fortune; soon the two collaborate on a successful business, although its longevity is reliant upon the clandestine participation of a nearby wealthy landowner’s prized milking cow.
The Wild Goose Lake – March 6th (Limited Release)
A gang leader on the run seeking redemption… A girl in trouble risking everything to gain her freedom… Both hunted on the hidden shores of The Wild Goose Lake. They set a deadly gamble for what may be their last day.
Extra Ordinary – March 6th (Limited Release)
Rose, a mostly sweet and mostly lonely Irish small-town driving instructor, must use her supernatural talents to save the daughter of Martin (also mostly sweet and lonely) from a washed-up rock star who is using her in a Satanic pact to reignite his fame.
Beneath Us – March 6th (Limited Release)
The American Dream becomes a nightmare for a group of undocumented day laborers hired by a wealthy couple (played by Lynn Collins and James Tupper). What they hope to be their biggest payday turns into a terrifying fight for survival at the couple’s secluded mansion, and those thought to be helpless must prove they can’t be discarded so easily.
The Banker – March 6th (Limited Release) March 20th (Apple TV+)
Inspired by true events, “The Banker” centers on revolutionary businessmen Bernard Garrett and Joe Morris, who devise an audacious and risky plan to take on the racially oppressive establishment of the 1960s by helping other African Americans pursue the American dream.
The Burnt Orange Heresy – March 6th (Limited Release)
Charming and ambitious art critic, James Figueras, has fallen from grace. He spends his days in Milan lecturing witless tourists about art history. His only glimmer of hope is a new-found love interest, the enigmatic American, Berenice Hollis. An opportunity strikes when he is contacted by wealthy art dealer Joseph Cassidy who summons James to his villa on Lake Como and asks him to steal a painting from the legendary reclusive artist, Jerome Debney. Soon, James’ greed and ambition get the better of him, and he finds himself caught in a web of his own making.
Final Kill – March 6th (Limited Release & VOD)
A mercenary hired to protect a couple hiding out in Central America from a ruthless crime family. In his final assignment as a protector, it quickly turns deadly as a group of mafia henchman descend on the tranquil Costa Rican village. Soon the agent learns that the job is far more than it seems and it will take all of his experience to get them out alive.
Swallow – March 6th (Limited Release & VOD)
On the surface, Hunter appears to have it all. A newly pregnant housewife, she seems content to spend her time tending to an immaculate home and doting on her Ken-doll husband, Richie. However, as the pressure to meet her controlling in-laws and husband’s rigid expectations mounts, cracks begin to appear in her carefully created facade. Hunter develops a dangerous habit, and a dark secret from her past seeps out in the form of a disorder called pica – a condition that has her compulsively swallowing inedible, and oftentimes life-threatening, objects.

My Spy – March 13th
JJ a hardened CIA operative who has been demoted and finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl named Sophie where he has been sent undercover begrudgingly to surveil her family. When Sophie discovers hidden cameras in her apartment she uses her tech-savviness to locate where the surveillance operation is set. In exchange for not blowing JJ’s cover, Sophie convinces him to spend time with her and teach her to be a spy. Despite his reluctance, JJ finds he is no match for Sophie’s disarming charm and wit.
The Roads Not Taken – March 13th (Limited Release)
A day in the life of Leo and his daughter, Molly as she grapples with the challenges of her father’s chaotic mind. As they weave their way through New York City, Leo’s journey takes on a hallucinatory quality as he floats through alternate lives he could have lived, leading Molly to wrestle with her own path as she considers her future.
Never Rarely Sometimes Always – March 13th (Limited Release)
An intimate portrayal of two teenage girls in rural Pennsylvania. Faced with an unintended pregnancy and a lack of local support, Autumn and her cousin Skylar embark on a brave, fraught journey across state lines to New York City.
Lost Girls – March 13th (Limited Release & Netflix)

Blue Story – March 20th (Limited Release)
Best friends Timmy and Marco go to the same high school in Peckham but live in neighbouring London boroughs. When Marco’s beaten up by one of Timmy’s primary school friends the two boys wind up on rival sides of a never-ending cycle of postcode gang war in which there are no winners … only victims.

Deerskin – March 20th (Limited Release)
A recent divorcee who becomes obsessed with a vintage fringed deerskin jacket that begins to exert an uncanny hold on him. Set in a sleepy French alpine village, he falls into the guise of an independent filmmaker and befriends a trusting bartender and aspiring editor who becomes his collaborator on a movie that will document a surprising new goal he sets himself.
Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears – March 23rd (Limited Release)
After freeing a young Bedouin girl – Shirin Abbas – from her unjust imprisonment in Jerusalem, Miss Fisher begins to unravel a wartime mystery concerning a priceless jewel, ancient curses and the truth behind the suspicious disappearance of Shirin’s forgotten tribe.
Mulan – March 27th

Military Wives – March 27th (Limited Release)
