It appears that Michael B. Jordan is ramping up to be in the running with Dwayne Johnson as Hollywood’s busiest man. The Wrap recently reported that he is in talks with Paramount to play Tom Clancy’s character John Clark for an upcoming Paramount film series.
Akiva Goldsman has signed on to produce the first film in the upcoming series. This film is being reported as an adaptation of Clark’s origin story novel, “Without Remorse.” In addition to his acting chores, Jordan will also produce the series with Josh Appelbaum and Corin Nemec.
If hired for the project, Jordan would be the third actor to play the head of Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Clark first appeared in the 1994 film adaptation of “Clear and Present Danger,” and was portrayed by Willem Dafoe. Liev Schreiber then took over the reins and played him in the 2002 film “The Sum of All Fears.” In both cases, these films were more showcases for Clancy’s erstwhile hero Jack Ryan. Presently, Ryan has his own show and is being played by John Krasinski and is streaming on Amazon Prime.
In most of Clancy’s novels, Clark served as an ally of Ryan but as he has gained popularity with Clancy’s readers, he became a breakout star and fan’s wanted to see more standalone stories involving him and Rainbow Six.
Just in case this falls through, Jordan is not without things to keep him busy. He will be returning to the big screen as Adonis Creed in Creed II and he is working on a new film, Just Mercy, which is currently in production. If that was not enough, he is also attached to star in the true story drama Wrong Answer. This movie would reunite him with his “Black Panther” and “Creed” director Ryan Coogler.
Needless to say Michael B. Jordan will not be hurting for work anytime soon.
How do you Tom Clancy fans feel about Jordan stepping into the shoes of John Clark? I think he could not just fill the shoes, he would make them his own. Share your thoughts about it with us at GVNation.
