Michael B. Jordan Reflects On Losing Chadwick Boseman

As if 2020 was not already a major cluster fuc*k, one of the lowest moments of the year was the sudden passing of actor Chadwick Boseman. A total gut punch that even to this day still seems like a very bad dream. Boseman has been labeled an inspiration to many actors coming up, especially African American actors. Chadwick had one of the biggest films of 2018, the cultural event of the year, Black Panther. The film grossed over $1.3 billion and was nominated for several awards including seven Academy Awards and even got a Best Picture nomination.

One of the actors who shared the stage with Chadwick Boseman for Black Panther was Michael B. Jordan. Jordan played the villain Killmonger, rumors are circulating that he might even be coming back for Black Panther 2.  Jordan has not really reflected on the passing of Boseman to the press but he spoke with VanityFair and opened up about the passing of his friend.

Jordan says “Losing Chadwick” made the actor more than any event or moment in 2020.

“Our relationship was a very personal one and had a lot of great moments—some that I couldn’t fully appreciate and fully understand until now. I wish I had more time to have our relationship evolve, and grow, and become closer and stronger. We got a concentrated dose of Chadwick.”

Jordan went on to add

“He did more in his 43 years of life than most people have done in a lifetime,” he says. “And he was here for the time he was supposed to be here, and he had his impact, and his legacy. That was clear with the abundance of love that he has gotten from people all over the world. There are generations of kids coming up that look to him. It’s incredible. And losing him was…Yeah, man, it hurt. It hurt a lot. That’s probably what made me cry the most this year.”

“He’s an incredible person,”

“His family and his wife are so strong. The people that he had around him are truly special people. To keep something like this quiet for so long—our town is nearly impossible to do something like that in. It speaks to the type of person he was, to work as hard as he did into his last moments. It’s truly incredible.”

Marvel will not replace Chadwick in the upcoming film and rumors are that Shuri will take the mantle of the new Black Panther.

Jordan says he would love to come back to the franchise and as a fan I think that would be very welcomed for fans all over the world.

Would you like to see Michael B. Jordan return as Killmonger in Black Panther 2?
