NBC Orders Three-Year Deal for Law & Order: SVU and All Three Chicago Shows

Law & Order: SVU already made history with its 21st season, but the Dick Wolf show will continue its legacy. The popular crime drama series has officially been renewed for three more seasons! That will bring the series up to season twenty-four, which is the longest-running prime-time show, as well as the longest-running Law & Order show. NBC not only renewed SVU, but also gave that three-year deal to the three Chicago shows.

On top of this, this means Mariska Hargitay will be the longest-running character in a primetime live-action show. This surpasses Gunsmoke’s James Arness and Milburn Stone, and Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane. According to Deadline, Hargitay has not yet signed a deal, but has publicly expressed commitment to the series. I think we should also acknowledge Ice-T’s involvement, since he had come in during season two and has been with SVU ever since.

Paul Telegdy, the Chairman for NBC Entertainment, said in a statement:

“Dick Wolf has proven time and time again that he makes shows audiences love. We are delighted, excited and proud that as part of this epic deal with Wolf Entertainment, NBC’s loyal audience will know that their favorite shows have a certain future for the next three years.”

Are you excited about this three-year contract?
