The team at the Warner Archive has a dazzling slate of new 4K UHD and Blu-Ray releases this month. We start with the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the film noir classic Out of the Past starring Robert Mitchum, newly restored from the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. We continue on this path with some fresh Blu-Ray releases, including the mob drama Marked Woman starring Bette Davis. The Pre-Code melodrama Skyscraper Souls starring Maureen O’Sullivan gets a second life with a great restoration. Spencer Tracy attempts to start a safe haven for wayward young men in Boys Town. Famous composer Johann Strauss II has his life brought to the silver screen in The Great Waltz. All of these films have been newly restored and include various special features.
The label has some lighter fare, including the Glenn Ford and Geraldine Page romantic comedy Dear Heart. The holiday remake Bundle of Joy updates Bachelor Mother as a musical with Debbie Reynolds taking center stage. This is not the only musical this month, as Steve Martin spirals out of a doomed marriage in grand fashion in Pennies from Heaven. Doris Day and David Niven play a married couple looking to move to the country in Please Don’t Eat the Daisies. Animation fans will be excited to pick up Scooby-Doo!
