Parody ‘Woke Trailer’ of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Actually Makes Great Points

Not too long ago, I did a review for the woke trailer for Die Hard. And it was hilarious.

Popcorned Planet is back with another woke trailer. This time, they’re tackling the pop culture favorite film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. These woke trailers are truly the definition of “taking the piss” and with the Die Hard one, I don’t believe it was meant to be taken seriously. While I felt like the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off video wasn’t as funny as the Die Hard one, I felt like it made…a lot of legitimate points.

It Makes Valid Points

I truly never thought about the utter lack of POC in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and if there are any, they all are background characters and fall in a stereotypical category. The video even brings up “should we hold past movies to the standards of today”. Which is a common question asked. But, the things pointed out in the film shouldn’t have even been held to a different standard then. Hooking up with an underage girl? An adult spending all day chasing after a high schooler who played hooky? A suicidal teen? Not really funny, no matter what decade it was released in.

Rating: 3.5/5

So, while this trailer didn’t make me laugh as much as the Die Hard one, I found myself actually thinking after watching it. In an effort to poke fun at things that are happening today with criticism of past movies, Popcorned Planet actually ended up making some valid points. I mean…Matthew Broderick did end up running someone over…

Here is the Woke Trailer of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Let me know what you think!
