Patty Jenkins Talks About Wonder Woman 1984

Like me were you wondering if Wonder Woman 1984 was a reboot? Looks like it isn’t. Seems it is a sequel but it takes place in a completely different time period. Not only that even some character thought dead will return. Don’t worry though director Patty Jenkins assures us that Diana’s story continues in the upcoming flick.

According to Jenkins who told Total Film magazine for the upcoming issue: “There was a little period of time where people got very upset and questioning: ‘Is it not a sequel?'”  She continued: “It is a sequel, insofar as nothing is contradicted between the two movies. It’s a totally different movie. Now, when you see the trailer, you can feel it.”

“It’s a different tone, look, feel, world, and context. That was what was important to me. This is its own standalone story that, of course, is also a continuation of our characters and their linear line. It’s just its own movie with its own very different feel.”

Sound like me a good move. New time period, plus lets put it in the title. That alone is going to make a big difference. As much as I love movies in the World War I period, I’m really looking forward to 1984. This was my high school stomping ground time. Greed, big hair, and tons of makeup.

Not coincidental is the fact that the year resonates with George Orwell’s surveillance-state classic. “for a very specific reason” Jenkins had previously stated she picked 1984.
