‘PEACEMAKER’: John Cena Determined The Characters Sexuality

While Peacemaker screams old, repressive values, the HBO Max series has shaped the John Cena character to be more than what you might think his character is. Despite having a father like Peacemaker does, the character was revealed to be bisexual in last week’s episode. According to director James Gunn, it was Cena who decided on Chris Smith’s sexuality:

“Peacemaker is an interesting character because he’s so f*****-up in so many ways, and then in other ways, he is kind of weirdly forward-thinking,” Gunn explained. “John does improv all the time, and he just turned Christopher Smith into this hyper-sexualized dude that is open to anything sexually. I was surprised by that. But I thought, ‘I guess it makes sense that this guy isn’t one-dimensional.'”

Gunn continued:

“We see in the show that he doesn’t have any issues with sexuality. As long as you’re not f****** animals — that he’s not into. But besides that, he’s pretty open. And yet other things he’s completely close-minded on.”

The season finale just premiered on HBO Max and it’s been confirmed that Peacemaker will return for a season two! Keep an eye out for our review of the first season.
