Quentin Tarantino Pegs Jerrod Carmichael to co-write ‘Django/Zorro’ Film

We have breaking news about the long talked about adaptation of the Quentin Tarantino written Django/Zorro comic series. While this project has been in the rumor hopper for quite a while, it finally seems that some traction might have been gained.

Collider is reporting that Quentin Tarantino has selected Jerrod Carmichael to co-write the adaptation of the Django/Zorro comic series. The comic itself was written by Tarantino and released by Dynamite Entertainment in conjunction with DC Comics. It’s release served as a sequel to Tarantino’s 2012 film Django Unchained starring Jaime Foxx.

While nothing has been confirmed, or commented on, sources to Collider have reported that Carmichael is currently working on the script. There is a discrepancy however whether he is working alone under Tarantino’s direction or with another unnamed writer. Another thing to file in the unknown is whether Sony is funding this project. It would make sense that at least Sony might have first crack at producing it. Especially with their current working relationship with Tarantino.

In addition, it has not been made clear whether Tarantino would be directing the film or just producing it. It is a rare occurrence however where Tarantino produces a film that he doesn’t direct as well. Until more clarity is made, it appears two steps forward, one step to be decided.

For fans of Django Unchained, are you ready for this long awaited project to finally be moving forward? Share your hopes for the film with us at GVNation.
