Quentin Tarantino Talks about Star Trek and the Loophole to His Ten Movie Retirement Plan

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”26408″ img_size=”825×464″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Quentin Tarantino has provided us with some of the best that cinema has to offer. But, even he knows that sometimes it’s okay to take a break or even retire and leave behind a legacy. The well-known director has stated before that he plans to retire after making his tenth film. Considering every movie he’s done has been solid, I would say this is fair.

Most would assume this means another film like the ones we’ve seen before from him, but there’s a possibility that the Stark Trek script that he’s pitched to J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot might constitute as his last. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is his ninth film, so whatever film he does next would be his tenth film – even if it’s Star Trek. These rules, made up by Tarantino himself; might have a “loophole”:

“I guess I do have a loophole, [if] the idea was to throw a loophole into it. Which would be [to go], ‘Uhhh, I guess Star Trek doesn’t count. I can do Star Trek … but naturally, I would end on an original.’ But the idea of doing 10 isn’t to come up with a loophole. I actually think, if I was going to do Star Trek, I should commit to it. It’s my last movie. There should be nothing left-handed about it. I don’t know if I’m going to do that, but that might happen.”

Tarantino’s work prior have been original work (or inspired by real-life events such as Inglorious Bastards and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), but a Star Trek movie would be in an existing franchise. I’m sure it would be one hell of a way to end a career, but I think us fans would want something else to round out his illustrious career.
