Ricky Whittle’s Comments on American Gods “Controversy”: “We Just Loving Life”

It seems like American Gods may have lost their new showrunner Jesse Alexander. Reported by THR, it seems that Alexander maybe “fired but not fired” and there seem to be certain reports that want to say that what Alexander and those involved American Gods comment on is downplaying the “turmoil” surrounding season one. This also follows rumors that floated around season one, which saw the exit of Michael Green and Bryan Fuller, as well as the reduction of episodes from ten to eight.

American Gods has been doing a lot of their own promotion, with stars Ricky Whittle, Demore Barnes, and Bruce Langley appearing at DragonCon. Several of the cast will be making their way to Comic Con in South Africa, as well as a panel at the upcoming New York Comic Con.

“American Gods has a deep and complex mythology and a unique visual style that makes this series one of the most ambitious productions on television, and one that we remain committed to delivering for our audience,” a Starz spokesperson said. “We are confident that when the fans get their first look at season two in just a few weeks at New York Comic Con, they will agree it was worth the wait.”

There’s a lot of reports stating that a lot of those involved in the STARZ show disagree on the vision of the show’s direction and that creator Neil Gaiman’s involvement is putting pressure on the series, but according to Ricky Whittle’s recent tweet, this could all be propaganda. The British star plays Shadow Moon, an ex-con thrown into this whacky world of gods and creatures.

So, are there problems? Are there not? Is Jesse Alexander actually fired? Is Neil Gaiman a problem? All I know, is that we’re promised American Gods in 2019 and the cast seems to be having a great time together and when the cast likes each other, the audience is given a better show.
