If you haven’t heard the news that’s currently rocking social media, let me the one to break it to you. Henry Cavill is reportedly out as Superman. Due to scheduling conflicts surrounding DC’s upcoming Shazam! film, it seems Cavill will not be returning as the Man of Steel. This is tragic news, surely. In the DCEU, Cavill’s performance as Superman has always received praise and many fans have patiently awaited a Man of Steel sequel since the first one came out in 2013. Cavill’s career won’t take any hits, though; his performance in Mission Impossible: Fallout received positive feedback and he’s set to star in the upcoming project The Witcher. So, although; we’re all sad to see Cavill go, we know he will have no shortage of opportunities presented to him.
With Cavill out, we all have to speculate who the new Man of Steel will be. Tyler Hoechlin plays the famous character in the Arrowverse, but according to Comicbook.com, Michael B. Jordan is one of the actors that could be considered. This is all reliant upon Jordan’s schedule and if the actor wants the role, considering he’s already in the MCU. There’s no denying Jordan is hot right now, with Black Panther and Creed, Hollywood wants Jordan wherever they can and him as Superman would garner a lot of viewers.
This is also all “down the road” talk, as the studio doesn’t want to work on a Superman film for a few years after the letting go of Cavill. Either way, the DCEU has a major shakeup to deal with, as it’s heavily rumored Ben Affleck won’t return as Batman. In the meantime, you can await Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 1984, as well as Creed II for all the Michael B. Jordan fans out there. Black Panther was recently added on Netflix, so you can enjoy Jordan as Killmonger all over again!
A girl with too many fandoms to count.
